JB comes from a very musical background, his father had music shops, his parents both played piano and his grandfather, Jack Jackson, invented sampling and DJing as we know it today. At the age of 4 he met Lemmy from Motorhead at his Uncle’s studio.
JB started off his musical career at 14 playing thrash guitar in ‘Vivid’ a band based in Berkhamsted playing local underground clubs like ‘Going Underground’ and ‘Horn Of Plenty’ St Albans. Vivid proudly provoked massive complaints about the content from their short lived radio show.
Also at the age of 14 JB aquired his first studio based around an Atari 1080 and started to tap into his creative side writing 1 song a day for the next 4 years.
By now he could play piano, guitar, bass, drums, percussion and sax.
He worked as a runner at Jackson Studios (Denham) using Trident mixing desks and setting up recording sessions.
In ’94 he went to study physics at Exeter University where he joined a funk soul band playing keys called ‘Skunk’ playing regularly at the Cavern Club. In the final year he formed his own band ‘Octopussy’ with the sole intention of gatecrashing parties.
After Exeter he worked as a songwriter producer including 2 years with singer songwriter ‘Jess Murphy‘ writing and producing an album together.
At this time he also worked with Paul Harris at Swan studios in Islington producing and writing on Protools.
In 2000 he was introduced to DJ Lee Dagger and they immediately became friends. Before too long they were cutting their own dance tunes, Lee would test them out and JB would sit on the sub speakers listening and watching audience reaction. This is where JB and Lee learnt their craft.
JB and Lee put their savings into pressing up vinyl and started pushing the Bimbo Jones sound into the record shops and onto the dancefloor.
In autumn 2001 they met their manager Alister Jamieson (Ambush) and were shortly after offered a publishing deal from Simon Fuller (19) .
Since then their time has been taken up with remixes, production, songwriting and live work.
JB has also been musical director of several bands using his network of live musicians.
